accadis university

The accadis ISB is a role model for schoolchildren, families and society, especially in environmental protection. That is why in 2019 the educational institution located in Bad Homburg renovated all of its lighting in the library, the art and office rooms and in the cafeteria. These two remediation projects were co-financed by the National Climate Protection Initiative and carried out by the Jülich project management agency. Cabsol Deutschland GmbH installed the highly efficient "wtec smartengine" LED lighting system, which is made up of 191 LED lights with sensors. The international school will be able reduce its use of electricity by 88 percent in the future. This corresponds to about 26 tons of CO2 per year, which amounts to 514 tons of CO2 less over the entire lifespan of the lighting technology.

Each lamp can be controlled individually

Low-voltage gateways feed and control all LEDs centrally via one data cable per light. This makes it possible to control and dim each light individually within seconds. A close-knit sensor network also records real-time information about room temperature, daylight, movement and power consumption. Thanks to the data provided by the system, the accadis ISB in the future can efficiently adapt its savings strategy to new circumstances.

Learning just like under the sun

LED lights do not contain any harmful substances such as mercury and do not emit UV or infrared light. At the end of their life they are considered electronic waste, but most of their raw materials are recyclable. The heat development in LED lamps is also much lower than in incandescent lamps. The LED light spectrum is similar to sunlight and ensures a pleasant learning environment in every classroom. Thanks to the flicker-free and uniform lighting, the bilingual school promotes the students' ability to concentrate, so that they can achieve their learning goals faster and more easily.

Longer lifespan of LED lighting

The LEDs, which will illuminate the accadis ISB in the future, will shine for up to 100,000 hours. At the end of their lifespan, they don't just stop working like incandescent lamps, but instead reduce their luminosity over time. On average, only about two out of a million LED lights fail at an earlier point in time. The new LED lighting will therefore be maintenance-free for many years.
